Here's an area of the Park that I haven't concentrated on recently: the south end, and its architectural environment. The facades along Central Park South dominate this view of the snow covered Hallett Nature Sanctuary, rising beyond the frozen Pond. Lately I spend most of my time looking away from the city, but the contrast between the bucolic landscape and the rectilinear skyscrapers is a striking and unique aspect of the Park. Few cities are as dense as New York, and none of them have such a large green space in their very heart.
