This Turkish Filbert, just north of the Alice in Wonderland sculpture, is yet another Birch affiliate. I've never seen it bear fruit, but it does flower, with the familiar catkins.






Filbert is also known as Hazel, as in hazelnuts. Not to be confused with Witch-hazel, which, come to think of it, might be worth checking out in the flower department, as well.
