Like calls to like, the alchemists used to say, and Sunflowers not only look at the Sun, but look like it, with petals as rays, and a yellow more intense than any night-bloomer has use for.

Girasol is the Italian for sunflower, which seems to have been corrupted into "Jerusalem". "Artichoke" is said to derive from the taste of the edible tubers found among its roots. The flower buds can also be eaten, if pickled as capers. Otherwise, we leave them to the butterflies of Summer, or the birds that will pick seeds from them come Fall.

For now, just take a lesson, day or night, and follow whatever star you will.
