A few Osage Oranges still cling to the branches like blown glass balls, while the star shaped Sweetgum capsules, below, would look Christmasy on any tree. Or even on the ground.









Cold-enforced crystallization has immobilized most of the water in the Park, but the open areas remaining have concentrated the waterfowl. Ducks are a highlight of the bird life during the 'off season'. Wood Duck (top) and Green Winged Teal are two of the most ornamental dabblers.
And yes, there is a Winter fruit...
