This Witch-hazel, on Cedar Hill, above the 79th Street Transverse, is in spectacular bloom right now.












In fact, it's a little too good. Our local Witch-hazel bloomed in the late Fall, and the spidery blossoms were half the size of these. I suspect an ornamental cultivar. The color is exaggerated; there's even a pink one!







These are very nice, but I'll wait for a more traditional source of Winter red.
