Linda, I liked Victor Salva's Jeepers Creepers horror movies so I went back and checked out "Powder," and I liked it a lot. Salva's plea for understanding of the psychokinetic/homoerotic/Christlike outsider is heavy handed, but it's brilliant heavy handed. What a visual director! He's very similar to Spielberg but the things I find false and contrived in Spielberg I find gripping in Salva's work. With the latter I don't mind being manipulated because what he's showing me is so amazing. The scene where he makes the hunter feel the dying deer's pain, or the one where he acts as a channel for the dying woman who can't speak--so over the top! What a wildly emotional movie!

Powder was on the television not too long ago, and it was a really good re-see. Sally, you are and Adam Sandler fan? (let me know if you cry at the end, I dare you :-)
