Interesting camera, it takes Double Super 8 film, not Super 8 - which comes on a convenient and quick loading cartridge. This stuff comes on a spool, and, like the Double 8 format, the film stock is 16mm double perforated but with Super 8 perforations, which allow for a 25% larger picture frame (= higher resolution) than the Double 8. The gate and lens expose one half of the whole roll of film then you pull the roll out, flip it over and expose the other half. The lab processes it then slits the film down the middle and splices the two 100' ends together onto a 200' reel.
I don't think Double Super 8 was a popular format or that many companies manufactured cameras for it.
I like that this camera accepts C-mount lenses. as far as I know the only Super 8 cameras that accept interchangeable lenses are the Leica and Bolleau, and I like that the camera has a pressure plate. Super 8 cameras don't because it's built into the cartridge but it's plastic and cheesy and can cause registration issues - my images are wobbly and soft enough already thanks. This thread argues the pros and cons of the camera. I think I'm in the" 6K + is a lot of money to spend on a camera with no view-finder which uses such an unpopular and therefore unsuported film format" camp.

I shot some far less unpopular Super 8 Kodachrome of my Niece and Nephews in their Halloween costumes in '06. Good footage of a unicorn hacking two ghouls to death with a double sided axe.
When I took the film in for processing the lab told me that Kodak no longer manufactures Super 8 Kodachrome. Bummer. Lucky for me that the massacre occurred at magic hour with Mt. Hood aglow all pink in the background.
I understand that Kodak does offer Super 8 in an Ektachrome stock or two as well as some negative stocks.

When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
Its a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of edu---cation
Hasnt hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the worlds a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama dont take my kodachrome away

If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know theyd never match
My sweet imagination
And everything looks worse in black and white

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the worlds a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama dont take my kodachrome away
