I'm hooked, finished episode 7 at about three am this morning. Episode 8 has been released but according to Wikipedia its release date is tomorrow, along with episode 9. 10 is scheduled for Jan 16th and I suppose that will wrap it up.

Twenty years after a flu pandemic resulted in the collapse of civilization, a group of survivors who make their living as traveling performers encounter a violent cult led by a man whose past is unknowingly linked to a member of the troupe.

I'd say that the violence is fairly minimal and tame by today's standards, especially given the premise.

david cross might beg to differ. still, is it violence we experience or violence in that world? certainly isnt the walking dead. i only see up to episode seven released at this point.

David Cross thinks it's particularly violent? I mean movie violence.

Right, only seven episodes released so far. I misread the extra episode 1.8 as episode 8.

  • Oh, right, he's in it and gets killed. I thought he looked familiar.

  • the quote talks about the cult being violent not the show overall. we see the cult perform a particularly violent act and there is intimation of more to come as well as in the past. his stated goal is to cleanse the past through violent acts if necessary in order to move forward to a future that isnt weighed down by the psychological scars of the pandemic or he is just a manifestation of that. is he a prophet or a madman?

    • Yeah, the theme is violent I guess I just mean on screen gore.  It seems to me most violent-themed movies and shows are heavier on the gore effects.

      • sure but it doesnt suggest the show is violent just the cult. you are making the leap that we would necessarily see that in the show and maybe its implied to attract a specific audience. not that it isnt violent but its not particularly gory. anyway, i need a win today so, i win.

good show. not sure how im supposed to feel about the central artifact. maybe its just in the macguffin realm. it inspires the protagonists but i havent been able to make heads or tails of its relevance other as a font for cryptic statements and childhood obsessions.

    • I can see why he didn't like the way things were headed in the airport. And I don't imagine the museum of civilization is going to be much better so maybe he has a point?
