Looking for something to take my mind off of the news I stumbled upon Detectorists, so far so good but I'm only one episode in. NYT: DETECTORISTS Britain (Acorn) - Mackenzie Crook’s melancholy comedy about the minor triumphs of a pair of friends who share a passion for metal detecting is the most delicate of shows — it feels as if it might float away while you’re watching it. In its second season, Mr. Crook and especially Toby Jones continued their marvelous work as small-timers who, most of the time, mask their frustration and rage in hilariously ineffectual diffidence. NETFLIX.

I've been watching Black Mirror on netflix.  Premise is a lot like The Twilight Zone, each episode is a complete story with a moral. The stories are usually set in the near future and concern our relationship to technology and media.  Also kind of reminds me of William Gibson's novel The Peripheral which I am currently reading.

Either you already know, or more likely, you don't care about such things, but I'm amazed to be watching what is apparently an actual show (and not just some drug fueled nightmare,) Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party. Yes, Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg. Throwing a dinner party. This episode feature Seth Rogan and Wiz Khalifa as guests. They are making fried chicken. I'm sure there are crazier things in the world, but wow. This episode started with Martha and Snoop in a faux bed with Snoop saying "I'm not high right now, but whoever gave us this show must have been."

Enjoyed Raised by Wolves on Acorn. A brit-com show which combines a Roseanne like dysfunctional single mom family, dark reality humor  and Fellini like absurdity and film craft.

just heard some praise from mr robot creator sam esmail for bbc show fleabag now streaming on amazon.

excellent post mortem with esmail looking back over the preceding season and the reaction to it, how he approaches the show and what he is trying to accomplish. definitely worth a listen if you are a fan of the show and perhaps had some misgivings about the second season.
