Red State Coda
As mentioned previously, I had some red state visitors recently. The SF hotel industry is in the middle of labor negotiations, with lockouts and noisy picket lines. My Mom said something so heartwarming ... so Christian ... so ... Red State.
Well, they were demanding more, and now they don't have jobs. (scoff)
This is sorta what I heard ...Uppity servants! How dare they ask for health care! Remove them from my sight! Hahaha, now they're poor and unemployed.
I pretty much held my tongue, 'cause I didn't want to get started. All Your Obedience Is Belong To Us

To War Monger or Not to War Monger
An interesting on-line conversion of a conservative blogger was noted by Hairy Fish Nuts.
Shortly before the election, Sojourners Magazine put forth a statement signed by hundreds of really smart people.
Hmm... Now who could he be talking about? Could it be ... oh, I don't know ...
Christ commits Christians to a strong presumption against war. The wanton destructiveness of modern warfare strengthens this obligation.
Standing in the shadow of the Cross, Christians have a responsibility to count the cost, speak out for the victims, and explore every alternative before a nation goes to war. We are committed to international cooperation rather than unilateral policies…
When the issue of attacking Iraq came up the nation’s political discussion, I jumped onboard immediately. Those columns leading up to the war in Iraq were ones I regret most. Karen DeCoster called me a “warmonger” and rightly so. While I’m not yet willing to admit the war was a mistake, the immediate support of such a war – and really, war in general – isn’t right. Now, it’s repulsive to me to see some supposedly “Christian leaders” in the news regurgitating RNC talking points while lightly using the name of God to support themselves.Standing in the shadow of the Cross, Christians have a responsibility to count the cost, speak out for the victims, and explore every alternative before a nation goes to war. Justice DeLayed
House Republicans plan to change their rules in order to allow members indicted by state prosecutors to remain in a leadership post, a move designed to benefit Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) in case he is charged by a Texas grand jury that has indicted three of his political associates, GOP leaders said today.
I say this isn't going far enough. Why should the emperor's commissars be bound by secular law? We must allow this spawn of Frenchmen to have his way with those who are below his peerage. It's only proper.Mr. Tom should be allowed to impress libruls into servitude, and should be allowed to rape, pillage and plunder all librul counties that stand in his way. Watch out Travis County. All your base is belong to DeLay.
