Bolton: Liar and an Idiot

[Recycled and extened post from a couple weeks ago. Cross posted as a comment somewhere on DKos. Umm ... yes ... my output is somewhat low these days. I think I'll send a condensed version to the local daily. I may not write much, but I can use it over and over again. You know, like Friedman of the Times.]

The Dems are pushing on the wrong point with Bolton.

For example, the debate about Bolton on the May 8th edition of Face the Nation included the topic "is Bolton too blunt?" Biden should have turned the discussion to the real issues.

Bolton is a liar and an idiot. That's the issue. Okay, I'll stipulate that he's a blunt liar and a blunt idiot. He's also a liar and idiot with a ridiculous hair piece. The problem here is the mendacity and stupidity, not that he's McGuff with a toupee and a wannabe cowboy mustache.

Bolton was part of the lie machine that "fixed the intelligence" about Iraq. It was his job to lie about WMD, and he went big.

Bolton wasn't "too blunt" in Korea. The problem is that he spoke out of turn. In large organizations (e.g. the US government), people need to know their place. They need to know when to speak up, and when to STFU. Bolton is an idiot who spoke out of turn at a sensitive point in negotiations, and pissed off the US ambassador to S. Korea, pissed of the Koreans, and pissed off the Japanese.

I repeat, Bolton is a liar and an idiot.

Now, I understand that Presidents like to work with people with whom they have something in common. And since Bush is a liar and an idiot himself, Bolton is a natural choice. But, sorry, that's not sufficient justification for endorsing further lying and idiocy.

Ingraham

I caught a bit of Laura's show this evening. Here's the deal, and I'm still trying to grasp the enormity of it all -- the whole thing in the middle east and stuff like that was just going totally awesome, and then the liberal elite media fucked it all up by quoting someone from the Bush administration. Fuckity fuck fuck FUCK!. Now the liberation of Iraq is totally going to suck. Fuckers.

Frown

Bush Frown

The word "frown" seems palid as a desription of this expression. I've been toying around with what to do with this picture, and committed a few ideas to pixels.

I know have an inkjet printer that will do borderless 11x17. I may tack a few copies up around town.

Wow, what if someone had fucked up something really important? I'll bet Scotty would have been extra PO'ed!

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman called the report demonstrably false, and that investigators at the FBI and the Southern Command have not found any evidence to support it. SouthCom is based in Miami and oversees operations at the U.S. military base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"You can't go back and undo or retract the damage that has been caused not only to this nation, but to those who have been attacked, injured or killed as a result of these false allegations," he said.

The White House, said to be outraged over the report, stopped short of outright demanding a retraction. However, a spokesman implied the magazine should take back the story.

"It's puzzling. While Newsweek now acknowledges that they got the facts wrong, they refuse to retract the story," press secretary Scott McClellan said. "I think there's a certain journalistic standard that should be met. In this instance it was not.

"This was a report based on a single anonymous source that could not substantiate the allegation that was made," McClellan added. "The report has had serious consequences. People have lost their lives. The image of the United States abroad has been damaged. I just find it puzzling."

Loyalty is Mandatory

Both Rush and Laura went after Hagel today. In addition to bashing Hagel, Rush just flat out lied about the issue. He said the percentage of judges blocked was 50% -- it's 5%. And he denied that use of filibusters has gone on for years, with the Republicans as the precident setters.

Laura made the tactical error of using a sound bite from one of the sunday shows in which Hagel explained that the use of filibusters has gone on for years, with the Republicans as the precident setters. Specifically, 67 of Clinton's appointees were blocked.

Laura's fan club may have been infected by actual truth, while the Ditto Heads were fed a consistent stream of fabrications, lies and bullshit.

Stretching the Truth

The debate this morning on Face the Nation about Bolton devoted a few minutes to the topic of "Stretching the Truth". Jebus H. Christ, these people have a deeply ingrained habit of making shit up. And they've been caught. Repeatedly. Thanks Sen. Biden, for keeping the conversation on track.

Then the debated turned to "is Bolton too blunt".

The fucker is a liar and an idiot. That's the issue. Okay, I'll stipulate that he's a blunt liar and a blunt idiot. He's also a liar and idiot with a ridiculous hair piece. The problem here is the mendacity and stupidity, not that he's McGuff with a toupee and a cowboy mustache.

Fine job keeping the debate meaningful, French Cuff Joe.
