hammer museum virtual tour

those wax figures really bring out what it must have felt like to use a hammer the way a display case never could.
"During a trip to Washington D.C. in 2002, the Pahl's had the privilege of viewing the archived hammers at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Dave noticed several life-sized mannequins designed to hold hammers in an action pose. The curator offered them to for use in the Hammer Museum, since they were no longer needed. They are a great addition to the Hammer Museum."
Armand Hammer was a great collector.
arm and hammer
That's a coincidence--I saw that seconds ago because I was looking for the famous Warhol Basquiat boxing poster Hannah designed for Shafrazi. It's not on google images. She said it was 3 color and printed by a small company that did the boxing posters in NY.
The Basquiat site is selling a knock off--a slick black and white image of a similar pose.
here. didnt know hannah was behind that.
Yes, I just learned that at dinner last night. Evidently that poster is a rarity now. Schnabel gave her a credit to use it in his film. She said Warhol refused to take off his shirt for the photo because of the scars and such.
tony was selling big big prints (canvas screens?) as his own pieces.
