I used to live in the heart of "Old West Austin". Remember the Castille apartments JimLouis? And Mary Mobley? According to Google Maps, the building still stands.

At the time I recall the area being called Clarksville. But according to the article at that link, I lived near Clarksville, which is a subset of Old West Austin.

I remember taking the train from Yuma to San Antonio, pausing for a couple of days in El Paso, being by pure coincidence picked up by my summer school hall mate in his VW beetle on the I-10, and coming back to the Castille, shaving around the scab on my face, taking an evening Enfield bus to the UT campus, going to the undergraduate library and beginning to crack up before dropping out. And I remember your girl Mary Mobley.

Just in case there is anything to that karma stuff, I'm not going to make any inflammatory bowel disease jokes.
