Gray Ghost Radke
"Suppose you have a million-dollar building in the French Quarter and you come out and see someone painting gray paint on it," says a source at the Vieux Carre Commission, speaking on condition of anonymity. "Would you think ‘who the hell does he think he is?’ You’re using Chevrolet, I only use Cadillac quality paint. I only use mineral spirits, you’re using latex. Painting over graffiti with gray paint is defacing property just as much as the graffiti did in the first place."

My brief mention of he who is Radtke in a 2001 NOLA entry, Birds Gotta Skim.
To the left is the Dumaine bridge, the purple striped paint job much faded now, and grey primer spots mark where the great anti-grafitti anti-artist has done his deed.
And while I appreciate the concept from the vid Steve posted that anti grafitti priming can be an art form in itself, about Radtke my feelings are he is just too prolific, creating way too much for too long in one city. And anyhow, even giving him credit as a type of artist, I've seen a whole bunch of his work, and he's a fucking hack.
too true. i followed the discussions on the purported gun toten' vigilante, nut job, so and so. im going to expand the grey ghost moniker to all civil over painters and focus my appreciation on the outer sprawl areas that i can see from the interstate.
