Iggy Pop's French inspired jazz album, Preliminaires (Foreplay), will be in stores on June 2 via Astralworks. Along with originals, the album also includes takes on Les Feuilles Mortes (Autumn Leaves) in the original French and Antonio Carlos Jobim's How Insensitive.

In describing the album, Pop called it a "quieter album, with some jazz overtones, because at one point, I just got sick of listening to idiot thugs with guitars banging out crappy music and I've started listening to a lot of New Orleans-era, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton type of jazz."

"Iggy may reform the Stooges" - that sounds like Sting saying "why would I want to put the Police back together again?"

ron ashton, his brother and other original members of "the stooges" reunited and toured for several years and only played music off the 1st two stooges records. i saw one of those shows at jones beach. ron died recently.

there was a personnel change in the original stooges along with the bands name change to iggy and the stooges with the introduction of a new lead guitarist james williamson bumping ron from lead guitar to bass. ron hated that and soon after iggy went solo with an all new set up featuring david bowie on piano. i saw that '77 tour on 14th st at the paladium. i think thats close to right.

heres the wiki low down.
