but seriously. i can see why youd say that. so by way of an explanation... historically as front man tom verlaine has stolen much of the television thunder. but what allowed them to set the musical punk band bar so impossibly high was the double lead guitar face off at their shows. i contend lloyd was the superior guitarist. in fact a punk guitar genius. unfortunately, as the article linked to a couple of posts back points out, he is bat shit crazy and usually excruciating to work with. hes very erratic as to whether its going to be a great show or a train wreck. also its problematic covering great television material when the original chemistry of the energy television created on stage was from the double lead guitar formula. i picked these two hendrix covers because 1) its a new project. 2) they were what was available on you tube of the lesser know (less over played, over familiar) hendrix material. vocal problems and breaking in the middle to re tune were not such a big deal to me (for a bat shit crazy performer). also id been focusing my appreciation on band of gypsies material and this is opening me up to the more psychedelic experience material.
