devo obsesso mucho
I just bought a second-hand copy of Devo Live: The Mongoloid Years. Three early concerts leading up to their "breakthru" gig at Max's Kansas City, which caused their phones to light up from record industry execs wanting to sign them. Haven't listened yet but the liner notes by Gerald V Casale are brilliantly caustic and self aware. He describes it as five guys angry about the Captain and Tenielle on the radio and Three Dog Night cover bands who are suddenly faced with the choice of joining the corporate "dark side." I read a review of this when it came out almost 20 years ago saying that it is especially hard rocking. For some reason it is out of print. Will report when I've listened.
