dripping springs west of austin. yes, in a nut shell.
Dripping Springs was year one. Even weirder = College Station TX
were y'all in attendance? and if so, how many gallons were yer hayt?
neither of us ever went. too damn hot!!!

as already pointed out this was a mostly country music show. although doug kershaw does go fusion w/ his fiddle. my favorite is leon russell plotzing all around the stage purportedly boozed up. this was the drinking mans concert. willie opens with whisky river. russel had released "hank wilsons back" on aug 31 1973 which was all pure country covers and helps establish the musical theme for the fest. looks like a couple of the ladies lost their halter-tops in the process, it doesent look like too safe a grounds for a lot of them. also walon and willie were establishing the long-haired rednecks brand of outlaw country music that weekend. the times swinging further away from the old late 60's peace-love long-hair hippie model.
