Regarding the role of the catalogue scribe:

"... to help nail down the artist's vision as a kind of first draft of art history."

simpleposie was wondering how that bodes for art and criticism as free discourse; Is then the catalogue essayist's critical role just to be the verbal agent of the artist's pretense to an art historical position?
