tennis gods all in for federer as djokovic takes a mean spill after breaking fed early.
- dave 9-13-2015 7:39 pm

those 5 break point misses in one game earlier this set for federer might prove decisive. #obvious
- dave 9-13-2015 8:43 pm

and those two break set points.
- dave 9-13-2015 8:51 pm

and almost two more. some high quality tennis out there.

so many break point chances saved by djokovic or not seized by fed. difference in the match.
- dave 9-13-2015 9:54 pm

Good stuff. Still hoping RF can pull it off. But yeah, so many chances.

15 of 18 break points blown.

its a lot less stressful with the sound off.
- dave 9-13-2015 10:21 pm

shes 33 which is old for tennis. 3 million dollars is a pretty nice going away present.
- dave 9-15-2015 7:57 pm

For sure but old or young she won, why now? Why not again next year, maybe she is a late bloomer:>)
- Skinny 9-15-2015 11:45 pm

she had planned to retire at the end of the us open. that she won was a complete fluke. i think she is probably a pretty good judge of her talent and the stars happen to align in this instance. plus its hard work. shes been at it day in and day out for probably 20 years. if her agent said some corporate entity wants to throw crazy money at you but only if youll keep playing im sure it would make her decision more difficult. as far as the tennis goes its doubtful she has what it takes to sustain that excellence. why not go out with the biggest victory of your career? instead of fading into obscurity, you are the stuff of legends.

i thought she said at the end of the season but the media just ran with the idea that she was done. dont know whats left but she probably had committed to tournaments already.

During her acceptance speech Pennetta announced her retirement. In an interview with Eurosport after the match Pennetta clarified that she would play out the rest of the season. By virtue of winning the US Open, Pennetta attained a new career-high ranking of No. 8.
