tonight is your third chance to possibly see serena williams last professional match at the us open. i havent watched the first two but she upset the #2 ranked player on wednesday. seems like its best if i dont watch, for her sake. havent watched any matches yet. she played doubles with her sister venus one last time last night and i believe they lost. they lost the first set in a tie breaker and were down 3 love when i checked the score. not watching did not help in that case so perhaps i have no bearing on the outcome after all.

turned it on mid second set when serena was up 4-1 after losing the opening set and she very nearly blew it winning in a tiebreaker. dont know if she has enough left to overcome her opponent in the third.

quite an exciting match so far. I feel for tomljanovich esp that last tie breaker, or whatever its called for the second set. Every point for serena and the entire stadium is on their feet.

just caught the last bit of rafa being ousted by 24 yo american frances tiafoe. looked good from what i saw but so hard to maintain after overcoming a top ranked player. field is wide open though with 1 and 2 out and djokovic denied entry i assume because of not being vaccinated. havent been following that closely. the aussie krygios beat the 1 seed last night and while he is whimsical and entertaining he is such a head case i dont enjoy watching his matches much less root for him.
