womens world cup started a couple of days ago. us started out with a gimme in the group stage but will have some tougher opponents upcoming and is no guarantee to advance with a bunch of key players sideline with injury and a lot of untested talent coming up behind them. not a lot of cohesion is the buzz.

unfortunately the plopped it down in australia and new zealand, the tournament that is. turns out putting it in the least accessible place is not great for western fans either for travel or for viewing so wont be catching too many stray matches outside of the us ones which hopefully theyll schedule at a viewable hour. otherwise they are all overnight.

this more than likely would have been the last go round for christen press and tobin heath, who have won with the us in 2015 and 19. both are injured and aging out of serious international play one would guess. but they team up on and off the field in this instance putting together a self produced world cup recap show. fairly candid interview with their old coach. maybe a little long. curious to hear them break down the games now that theyve started.

us women face bigger challenge tonight at 9 against team they beat to win cup in 2019. not a must win but will be telling.

we might be out if Portugal wine the next two unless Vietnam beats Netherlands

i would rather say that assuming portugal beat vietnam the us only needs to tie portugal in the final group stage. so losing is not an option. they dont look like a cohesive unit but i suspect as well the rest of the world continues to catch up.

woke up in time for the second half. us had a number of good scoring ops shut down by the swedish goalie then choked it away in pks. glad i wasnt too invested.

painful but not that invested......love Sweden that said Columbia or Jamacia and Spain out I will likely stop watching the semi's.......and if Lauren James of England does not get kicked out of the tounatment I loose faith in fairness and FIFA

The final some would say is Friday, Sweden vs Japan.......

i think she will probably only miss one game. she was fortunate that the nigerian player wasnt hurt. it was more of a step than a stomp. sorry if your faith in humanity is shaken.

woke up just in time for pks and then watched the australia game. couple of watchable games for me tomorrow at 7am and 9pm. you can stay up late and watch colombia/jamaica and sweden/japan later in the week.
