I’m stubborn. And went last night to hear them.
“Half-baked academic blather” seems to be an understatement - I should have listened to you Alex - it was an incredibly frustrating experience. DJ Spooky was all over the place. I really could rant but I will try to hold back. I will just say that “subliminal kid” needs to unpack some of his rhetoric and make some sense of what he is quoting. He also needs to learn respect for the people he refers to so lightly. Everything he said was out of context in a seeming attempt to prove his point. The real tragedy is I don’t think he knew what point he was trying to make.
Today I am hearing words like “pompous” and “insulting.”
I agree Bill I don’t think ‘architecture is any more like frozen music than anything else.’ Anything with pattern, base, form, foundation?
But the soap opera will continue next:
“WHAT: Philip Glass, whose music has defined American minimalism, and
architect Thom Mayne, principal of Morphosis and designer of The Cooper
Union expansion project, explore the concept of "the music of the
spheres."
