I'd say as long as our public officials keep putting a 9/11, "we're at war" spin on innocuous events we're all living in tabloid America. Sounds like the Met has enlisted more than the "one security guard" it said it needed to handle the situation of art being mysteriously placed in the museum (as discussed here). Instead of making withering comments about the quality of the art, they're sending cops to people's homes. Go, Met! Way to deal!
