Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee or Forrest Bess! I vaguely remember a Thomas Lawson review from the early '80s where he tried be cynical about the Forrest Bess trend but failed--and you can sense Brenson struggling in that Times review. Thanks for that link - I never knew the particulars of Bess' self-gender-reassignment. Also for the images of the work--I wonder if/when the Antiques Roadshow discovery will be added to the canon.
