its about media. katy couric. i just heard AT on wnyc npr news w/ david faulkincliff.
- bill 4-06-2006 1:49 am

Apparently he has been getting called non stop about the Couric thing. It's his day in the spotlight or something. Did you see it Bill? Was it just for a second or what? Did he do okay?
- jim 4-06-2006 5:02 am

heres the audio. not sure he really spoke to the questions he was asked. sort of staked out a position and then stuck to it.
- dave 4-06-2006 5:39 pm

he started out with echo in his earpiece and didnt quite recover. he was part of a panel of three and they didnt come back as often as they could have. that would be my worst nightmare. i do like him allot though.

"Katie Couric: Is She Necessary?"
A pressing topic of the day.

replaces walter !!???
- bill 4-06-2006 8:49 pm

Haven't listened to the audio yet but I think AT holds Couric's abilities as an interviewer in pretty high regard.

Is that in general, or relative to other morning news people?
- jim 4-06-2006 11:11 pm

they kept referring back to that and how generally speaking that skill set is not very relevant for the 22 minute nightly newscast where most of the heavy lifting is done by the correspondents pre-packaged pieces. could be seen as more useful for her stint on 60 minutes which is part of her deal. also, as they pointed out, shell do well during "breaking news events," like katrina, where shes called upon to "feel" for america. question is, is she smart enough to make it interesting but dumb enough to spew the party line. shes got part two down, well have to see about part one.
- dave 4-06-2006 11:14 pm

>>Is that in general, or relative to other morning news people?

shes probably a good interviewer (as if i watch her) as long as you are uniformed about the subject. if you have any knowledge, i bet she comes across as lousy.
- dave 4-06-2006 11:16 pm

I once expressed the opinion that she was dumb and lousy. If memory serves AT responded with "if you think Katie Couric is stupid then you haven't watched enough Katie Couric, she's well smart and a fucking good interviewer."

I'm suddenly thinking of the college (UCLA?) that offered a course called "The Films of Keanu Reeves."
- tom moody 4-07-2006 6:53 am

And don't get me wrong, I like Keanu Reeves. I saw Johny Mnemonic on cable recently and got a kick out of it. I love it when he yells "I want to get online! I...NEED...A...COMPUTER." (hear it)

I especially liked him in Bram Stoker and Ted's Excellent Transylvania Adventure.
