any body else get that feeling that the bush alternate universe was lifted last wednesday? all of a sudden its back to the real world with the real world checks and balances. out goes the rove/republican bag of dirty tricks that started with clinton and the special prosecutor. in comes nancy pelosi with her eyes on the constitutional prize. which does not include impeachment (because thats what they would do). only problem i think hillary is still stuck in the old fake world of fake personality and fake politics.

gore vidal was on lopate yesterday. when asked about news paper editorials cautioning against too many hearings, vidal responded with: "NEWSPAPERS!? Who has any respect for anything they've read in news papers since 1787. they are paid for acts by the same people that brought you bush and the democrats." (he went on to say that "the republicans got rid of habeas corpus and due process and it will take two generations to get the constitution back.")

i thank the blogosphere for providing watch dog services during this recent dark age. i expect they will provide useful service in the future.

here is about as much gloating as i think we should indulge in at this time.

I agree in so far as up until the election I still thought we would attack Iran (90%), but now I don't think so. That's a pretty nice world view change since I thought attacking Iran would lead to a series of steps that would result in America losing most of it's military force, and the crashing of the dollar and the US economy.

I'm grateful to be back in the land of run of the mill Democratic fuck ups. Blow jobs really are a lot better than starting (and losing!) aggressive wars.

jim baker is supernanny*!

* just to prevent a tom moody rebuke to what is already a thinly conceived comment i am hereby stating that i do not believe jim baker to be super nor is there any evidence to suggest that he is a licensed nanny, and thereby stating that he is a supernanny is contrary to all available information and common decency. as far as i know, he also has no proclivity for baking, and quite likely would prefer the formal james to the familiar jim when being referred to in this particular context or any such like it.

i think we can all agree, however, that asterisks are a useful notation for creating footnotes. and i believe we can build upon our shared understanding of the utility of this glyph to work towards a positive future for all americans, whether they be white or white, and a more perfect typography for everybody else.
