According to a Times account, the shoethrower could be heard screaming in the background as he was being beaten, while Bush was making his funny little speech about what freedom means. As one internet sage put it, freedom means being able to throw a shoe without being beaten by the authorities.
Overlooked story was Bush saying "So what?" when confonted by an interviewer with the fact al Qaeda setting up shop in Iraq only after the invasion. Too fucking lazy to lie, but still doesn't give a shit.
