Seeing those films, "Water Window Baby" and the painted films was so shocking. Somebody put the world on film; that is, the world that has a life of its own.
The Times reports that the coal tar dyes used in some of his films may have contributed to the bladder cancer that killed him.
Huh? Did Brakhage die?
