anybody know there were earlier silent film versions of books from the wizard of oz series? frank baum direct this one, only $3.99 for the public domain bad print dvd. theres also a fair amount of crap to browse through in their cheapie section.
better schlock at $4.99.
The Cary Grant/Irene Dunne movie Penny Serenade (in the $3.99 section) was based on a story by my great aunt Martha Cheavens.
I still haven't seen it but I'm told it's a three-hankie "weepie," and not half bad.
Harry Smith's film wasn't earlier but I think I remember reading in American Magus that it was to be silent and 3-D. Anyone have a copy of the book handy to verify? Mine's on a shelf 3000 miles away.
