The Pawnbroker is a 1964 American drama film directed by Sidney Lumet, starring Rod Steiger, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Brock Peters, Jaime Sánchez and Morgan Freeman in his feature film debut. The screenplay was an adaptation by Morton S. Fine and David Friedkin from the novel of the same name by Edward Lewis Wallant

The first American film to deal with the subject of the Holocaust from the point of view of a survivor.

Stanley KubrickKarel Reisz and Franco Zeffirelli all turned down the opportunity to direct. Kubrick didn't find it exciting, Zeffirelli was keen to break into movie directing from his stage background but felt that the material was too dark for him, and Reisz found it too close to home, having lost both his parents in the Holocaust.

seems like it was beaten to the punch by promises promises by one year starring jayne mansfield. not sure what the distinction between appearing nude vs fully exposing ones breasts is. mansfield seems pretty exposed in the images i saw.
