Pop tarts are all about melting butter into warm pastry. The frosting was jumping the shark for my generation as it repelled the butter.

For a while pop tarts was featuring smuckers fruit jam. I think it was in the 90’s and I have no idea why the merger ended. I would google but figure Dave might like the assignment
hard to come by an answer. definitely in pop tarts by 1964 but likely the year before when they were "invented." some site claimed it left in 1971. saw a box in 73 without smuckers on the label but strawberry preserves were still in the ingredient listings. saw a box from 1994 that had smuckers on the label. that was the most recent one i could find. someone suggests 99 in this thread but speculation.

I think blueberry and strawberry were the preferred flavors in our household. No cinnamon.

i only ate cinnamon or frosted cinnamon. no one in our house put butter on them but i guess that was a thing. was a fairly rare treat.
