knocked running with scissors and stranger than fiction off The List. both seem to reach for something that neither quite achieves. the first delves into tenebaums territory but falls short of endearing despite being based on an autobiography. the second is less self consciously cute and you want to sympathize with the characters but you can never quite believe they feel anything at all particularly will farrell. still good to see him get away from the broad comedy. give scissors some props for delving into darker places while fiction comes together better as a story.
