Earthchild was long among my all-time favorite books. I wrote an essay for some academic collection years ago "Hero as Hedonist: The Early Novels of Doris Piserchia" which I should dig out and see if I still have the same feelings about these books. An episode of the new Outer Limits starring Amanda Plummer seemed to have been inspired by Mr. Justice. Piserchia stood among the finest american short story writers but she stopped writing those tales even before she stopped writing novels. That she gave up on a crapulistic genre industry is a great loss to those of us who loved her work so much.
