miyazaki thursdays on tcm in january. first dubbed in english, later sub-titled.
I caught some of Mononoke last week and found myself enjoying the subtitled version WA-A-A-AY more than the Billy Bob Thornton/Minnie Driver version. In fact, I actually found myself liking it for the first time.
Also, one correction to the TCM page--Osamu Tezuka (Kimba the White Lion, Astroboy) is the Japanese Walt Disney!! Big eyes came from him, because he was influenced by Disney.
Of course Disney says it's Miyazake because they own the American rights to Miyazake's films. Fuckers. Miyazake is way too dark and weird to be a Disney.
Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa are my two favorite--both are tonight.
