some good tennis on usa network. one set apiece in what could be andre agassi final professional match. first two sets both went to tiebreakers.

meanwhile my big tv broke today. yesterday it was a hard drive. better check my biorhythms.

I think you jinxed him.

Thanks for the heads up.

andy roddick match just started. hes been underwhelming the last few years but hes got the ageless jimmy connors coaching him this year and his game has started to come back to life. also there are rumors of him dating maria sharapova. if that wont motivate you, what will? gotta like that he represents izod, too. so tired of the nikes adidas reebok puma types. but what ever happened to le coq sportif?

I'm in between apartments, staying at an undisclosed location (okay, Sarah's) with no TV. Can you believe what I have to go through?

Maybe you can post the play by play and I'll pretend I'm still in civilization.

(Did Agassi play again, or was that rained out?)

i think agassi is scheduled to play tomorrow. plenty of play by play on the net at the official site, cbsportsline and espn. they all post realtime scores.

Well yeah, but not with your, how-do-you-say, je ne sais quoi. I'm all about the color commentary.

agassi match is tomorrow night.

back to mens fashion (although sharapova tonight looked like she was playing in some backless sequined black dress. didnt slow her down though). seems to be a rise in the sleeveless crewneck shirts versus the classic polo. aesthetically i find them unpleasing but i can appreciate the freedom of movement especially when the sweat begins to weigh your arms down. not that id be caught dead in them, although i am a fan of the new drifit wicking fabrics.

i miss watching connors. i hated his small steel racket, and i missed his early years when he was a total prick, but he, as they say, would always leave everything he had out on the court. he might have been a selfish prick but he wasnt a whiny brat like macenroe.
- dave 8-31-2006 6:34 am [add a comment]

damn. i didnt even realize ive got 6 channels of us open tennis!

poor martina hingis. she looked cuter and fitter than ever (after being out of tennis for three years) but she was just upset by some noname frenchwoman. agassi match coming up.

agassi is up a break 3-0 in the 4th set. if he can hold serve the rest of set he will win.

interestingly with a name like "agassi" i always assumed he was of italian heritage. turns out his father was iranian.
- dave 9-01-2006 7:04 am [add a comment]

went up two breaks then gave them both back. now he just lost the set 7-5. he was up 4-0.
- dave 9-01-2006 7:36 am [add a comment]

agassi pulls it out 7-5 in the 5th set.
- dave 9-01-2006 8:53 am [add a comment]

Yeah, I ended up catching the 5th set. Great tennis.

Do you think the other guy was faking the cramps to generate a little crowd sympathy?
- jim 9-01-2006 6:34 pm [add a comment]

no. he was clearly cramping up. plus i think the kid would have had too much respect for agassi (who i read he was a fan of growing up) to pull something like that. thing about cramps v. pulling a muscle is that they can be worked through in short order especially once the trainer worked him over.

and the crowds appreciation for him might have grown but they werent likely to turn much against agassi. meanwhile, with the kid literally hobbling on one leg to return serve, agassi couldnt get a first serve in for his life, and baghdattis managed to make a game of it hitting winners off the second serve. made me think of the karate kid, except he lost in the end. agassi actually deserved to lose that game. and really he should have won in three sets. as they say he can barely walk between matches those extra two sets may have seriously diminished his capacities.

whatever. entertaining stuff.

agassi match up at 1130 followed by roddick then serena on cbs today.
- dave 9-03-2006 7:12 pm [add a comment]

Thanks. Does Agassi have a chance?
- jim 9-03-2006 7:34 pm [add a comment]

hes playing some young unknown ranked 112 in the world. seems to have a big serve and hes trying to make agassi move alot but i havent seen the rest of his game yet. im betting agassi gets through and would meet roddick in the next round if he wins later today. the crowd needs to step it up too. the night crowds always seem rowdier and noiser which can only help agassi.

on serve thus far in the first set. agassi is definitely a step slower.
- dave 9-03-2006 7:56 pm [add a comment]

agassi lost the first set and although hes up a break in the second he already looks as tired as he did at the end of the last match. the other dude is going to have to make alot more unforced errors for agassi to get through.
- dave 9-03-2006 8:26 pm [add a comment]

agassi was one point from taking it to a fourth set but now it looks like his career will be over in about two minutes.

didnt read the either huffpo or nyt (cant remember which) article that quoted his dad as saying he should retire after last match. he even got a couple extra days cause of local rain.
