i noticed via the futon critic that dirt was premiering tonight on fx. ive seen stared at a million ads featuring some old peter gabriel tune which i can nearly conjure but cant name. i thought it would be some funny cosmic joke if the impressionistic ads kept running but the show never actually aired (this way it can never be panned. canny career move) and that wed forever be pondering the hardening lines of courtney cox emaciating skull.

i watched the first 20 minutes or so of dirt. i think they had three sex scenes in that timeframe including one faux graphic scene with former laker rick fox (playing basically himself) getting fucked up the ass with a strapon dildo by a hooker posing as a libidinous fan payed by a photographer (hiding in the bushes) so he could get the lurid pictures for dirt magazine. thank god for tvs ability to push against the boundaries of acceptable discourse.
funny that its rick fox because his realtime wife, vanessa williams (who was famous for having herself exposed in penthouse back in her miss america days) plays a much more convincing bitchy backstabbing magazine exec in the decidedly more campy and sweet show, ugly betty, than does courtney cox in her wooden portrayal.
