not a big fan of the contrived nature of reality programming but the colony at least has an interesting premise. how might a group of people survive in a post apocalyptic world?
The brits have done several of those survivor type shows using people with actual brains and skills. Hint: suck up to the botanist.
They've also made some good ones with different time period themes, such as Iron Age Britain. Hint: That jerk with the dreads, who plays the recorder, and is totally into herbal stuff? Yup. Suck up to him too.
think there have been similar shows in the america. pbs definitely did a group of turn of the century homesteaders. is interesting to see which skillsets are useful.

Still, can it be as good as Shaq vs....?
