big game for the champions league today - barcelona v. arsenal at 230 on fsc. barca lost to arsenal in the first matchup in england by a score of 2-1 so they have to win today at home and also shut arsenal out to ensure a move on to the quarterfinals. if they give up a goal then they need to score three to get through, etc.
messi scored for barcelona at the end of the first half which should open the game up in the second half as arsenal need to score to advance. they played very conservatively in the first half allowing barca to dominate the ball hoping to deny them opportunities around the goal. now theyll be forced to play some offense.
early in the second half barcelona headed the ball into their own goal but were given a gift of a red card to an arsenal player. now playing a man down arsenal have given up two goals and barca is looking poised to advance. not entirely underserving but really fortunate. still about 20 min to play.
another quality matchup today between tottenham hotspurs and ac milan. pretty sure tottenham won the match in milan so they just need a victory to advance. ac milan played a very cynical dirty game the first time around punctuated by a milan player headbutting one of the spurs assistant coaches after the game. and if you need another reason to root against milan it is owned by berlusconi. though if you are a fan of sleeping with underaged prostitutes, this may be the team for you.
i know what you are saying, if spurs won the first leg then surely they only need a tie and not a win to proceed to the next round? and you would be right, soccer fans. no score with 30 min gone.
