tomorrow at 245 est on fox is the biggest soccer game of the year, the champions league final between manchester united and barcelona. it worked out well that the winner of the english premier league is up against the top team in spain. so if you watch one game this year, this would be it. and then we can all talk about how boring it is.

barcelona dominated possession as they always do controlling the ball 70% of the time and got a number of quality shots on goal. they won 3-1 but it easily could have been 5-1. meanwhile, manchester united only got 1 shot on goal and only 4 shots total. dominating performance and overall a very clean game played by both sides which was a relief after the previous matches against real madrid.

i know this is only funny to me but theres a player on barcelona that will make as if he's been hit in the face anytime someone raises their arm near him. he also was caught on tape for mouthing some racist comment at an opponent in an effort to cause that player to lash out and perhaps get thrown out. somehow he avoided serious repercussions for that despite a very public effort by the ruling elites to make fighting racism one of their core tenets.

so early in the game he (sergio busquets) took a ball at close range square in the face but proceeded relatively unscathed and then later on an ill advised challenge, he took a knee to the side of the head but inexplicably grabbed at his chest as if he had been kicked there. its as if he were a pathological liar incapable of telling the truth despite it being to his advantage. in any case, it seems the soccer gods were having a laugh at his expense. he is a champion, once again, though a deeply reviled one. whats sad is that barcelona played impeccably without resorting to the shenanigans which marred the real madrid debacle. clearly, they felt they needed to act that way to highlight reals brutish tactics but they lost a lot of respect in the process.
