Very late to the party here. I used to tell people that Vizio made a decent cheapo LCD TV. I need to rethink that. I've been watching a Vizio hooked up to a Comcast (by Motorola) cable box. The cable box lacks an up converter (really?), so the upconversion from SD is done by the Vizio. And it's done badly. The interlace artifacts hurt my eyeballs. Many people probably wouldn't notice. Many TV reception devices these days can do the upconversion prior to the TV. TV over the interwebs is almost exclusively converted to progressive ahead of time, because computers don't understand interlace. So it may not matter in all cases. But just a note: if you have 480i sources, be careful about Vizio. Otherwise it's not a bad TV.

(The Vizio in question at least a couple of years old. Maybe they fixed this is current models.)
