Enjoying season two of portlandia so far. (you go. No, you go.) Shameless less so.

i have a couple of portlandias recorded but i havent watched any. only saw a couple of episodes of the first season. i guess repeatedly skewering the pretensions of hipsters only holds so much interest for me.

have to agree with shameless, might have to call it aimless instead. feels like some of the pathos and grit has been removed from the original. and although bill macy has grown into the role somewhat, he just cant compare to his british counterpart. and so much of the comedy and treachery comes from that character.

luck premieres tomorrow night on hbo. has gotten pretty decent reviews. i would say im looking forward to it but ive had the pilot on tivo for about a month and i havent been moved to watch it.

Also caught a couple of episodes of Sherlock. Pretty good.

I liked the first episode of Luck. I think it will be good and has potential to be great. Also liked Sherlock (have only seen first 2 episodes of season 1 so far...)

Lots of funny bits in past seasons of Portlandia but I'm skeptical they can keep it up or that it's really enough of an idea for a show. Good to hear you are enjoying it Bill, maybe I'll give it another chance.

I was blown away by the racing footage in Luck. (and of course I started crying when a horse's leg snapped)

ive watched the first two eps of luck now and im not quite sure if im in for the long haul. theres a lot of quality but this mametian universe only holds so much appeal for me. and as for cultivating a female audience, they can only maim so many horses.
