Binge recommendation thread.

a lot of peaky blinders love in there but i imagine reddit is guy heavy and that is a guy type show. you cant spell gangster without angst.

ive still got the entire season of fargo chewing up space on my dvr and most of the affair. downloaded but have yet to watch the netflix animation original bojack horsemen which was recommended to me.

have at least one episode of british dramas happy valley, babylon and the honourable woman to sample along with netflixs marco polo.

more darkness from the brits include the missing and the fall. and there is sundances rectify which continues to receive positive reviews through two seasons.

still two major holes in my tv dossier - the wire and breaking bad. there was a wire marathon on hbo this past week so i dvr'd the pilot just to dip my toe in but i wasted time this weekend reading a book instead. it was about an unsolved hollywood murder in the 20s so im not straying too far afield.

ive watched about half of the black mirror episodes which is something like a modern twilight zone. some are interesting and different, others less so.

another show i am the target audience for yet havent got around to yet is comedy centrals review. the driving force behind the show is andy daly who has made the rounds on a number of comedy podcasts i frequent over the years. and the show itself has a fair amount of critical praise.

its been a generally dire year for comedy but the animated rick and morty was refreshingly weird and fxs youre the worst mined some funny out of the tired world of romcoms with two likeable yet loathsome leads. also looking forward to season two of broad city on comedy central which starts in a couple of weeks.

halfway through the third episode of The Honorable Woman, kind of complicated for me but it seems to untangle so I think I'm hooked, plus I like Maggie Gyllenhall. I enjoyed Damages, thought Rose Byrne and Glenn Close had a good thing going. (side note: it's funny to see high power characters on these shows using blackberries and flip phones.) I liked the first season of The Wire but couldn't penetrate the second and gave up. Breaking Bad had me hooked but it's as if I never watched it now, same with Battlestar Gallactica.

2) poirot (70 episodes)

3) inspector morse (33 episodes)

4) endeavour (inspector morse prequel) (9 episodes)

Getting ready to binge on Trudeau vehicle Alpha House. Just remembered to finish up season one, which was so... 2013. Suspect I'll be reliving 2014 shortly. Killer writing, killer casting. Not too heavy.

started in on the next brit cop/murder show, luther, starring idris elba. it has been suggested that elba will be the next james bond after daniel craigs run. this one has a somewhat unbelievable subplot but i guess they were looking for a new hook.
