super classy of amc to add an extra 5 minutes or so of ads to each episode. what better way to remind viewers what show they are watching.

i am strapped back in, people!

7 down 84 to go.

got fresh pots of coffee and iced tea brewing. im covering all my diuretic bases. you wont see this viewer properly hydrated. and yes i am down to pickles, carrots and almond butter to eat but wars have been won on less!

now what i really need is an extra tv. im about 10 episodes behind and im not watching any faster. also, does anyone have the specs for that contraption they used to keep malcolm mcclarens mcdowells eyes open in a clockwork orange? and if so can you build it for me right now. also bring it over. time is of the essence.

alright, im going back in for the classic hobo code episode. its the first long look into don drapers disreputable upbringing.

    • ahh. i wrote roddy mcdowell first and that didnt seem quite right so i checked it. i do always confuse those names.

    • does this mean you've missed the champions league matches this week?

      - linda 5-14-2015 5:50 pm [add a comment]

      • what am i an amateur?

mad men didnt start until last night at six. the games were over by then. but i still found time last night for a few minutes of game seven of the rangers overtime win.

man does not live by bread alone goes the saying which is kind of ironic as that is all i had left to eat last night other than the pickles, almond butter and carrot sticks.

i did miss the europa league games today but they exist only to not be watched.

        • what the heck was this about. just being a punk or some crazy ball boy rule? scroll down past sad ronny for gif...

        • just being a punk. home team ball boys sometimes get a little bit too enthused in their effort to help by delaying the other team from being able to get an out of bounds play off quickly. this was particularly stupid and egregious because it was early in the game and it was a corner kick so its not likely they were going to quick kick it rather than set up. i dont know if home teams encourage it but it happens more than it should.

had a glitch this afternoon but i rallied back after some light feet moving in circles for a half an hour. season 2 is don and done. 26 down...

love the last three episodes of the season which center on dons trip to california during his "time out" with his wife. if she thought his philandering was bad just wait until she finds out his whole life is a lie. stay tuned.

stalled out with two eps remaining in season 3. really doing some serious damage to my dvr. now ill never know if nicholas cage dies at the end of leaving las vegas! think ill have a back log of 40 episodes before the night is through which is also about 40% of my dvr. a lot of good shows died so that man men can live. ill miss you most of all "celebrate ricky sargulesh" which managed to stay on my machine since 2009.

good but not great finale. some critic nearly guessed where it would end and it might have been a more satisfying conclusion had they gone this route. instead we were left to construct the final pitch from our own imaginations.

season four is in the books. the suitcase is often cited as a top if not the best mad men episode mostly because it focused on don and peggys relationship but the beautiful girls had a couple of the most memorable lines revolving around the death of a character who was primarily a running joke namely dons aged secretary ida blankenship.

the line that is most remembered was uttered by the company founder bert cooper who had long prior had a truncated liaison with her. for her obit he proclaimed, "she was born in 1898 in barn and died on the 37th floor of a skyscraper. she was an astronaut."

as good as that was i laughed aloud at roger sterlings more sly but no less true remark. "she died as she lived -- surrounded by the people she answered phones for."
