• looks pretty, benefits from the locale, hasnt entirely engaged me in the story. i guess the golden child might as well be the maltese falcon. i generally like clive owen. not completely on board with his ennui which i know is baked in to the sam spade noir persona. might have benefitted from a binge. watching some of these week to week makes me lose interest. the couple that own the bar are the most interesting characters.

• funny. i was listening to a podcast about 1991 movies and they mentioned kenneth branaghs neo noir film dead again which i hadnt seen so i watched it earlier and its decent but easily the worst thing is his over the top two bit la private eye accent but i still think owen is a little too flat.

I agree that it would help if the series could be binged and about the couple who own the bar. The "arrtist" and his mom fall flat, a not funny, campy element that doesn't seem to jibe with the vibe.
