i remember watching the morning show but i was surprised when i heard it only ran for 90 episodes over 5 months.

i wonder how often i actually saw the show. probably most often during holidays and summer vacation as i cant imagine i stayed up that late in high school too often and we didnt watch much tv at college. i didnt watch much after the switch to cbs in '94 especially after the beginning when it seemed he was pandering to a wider audience. ultimately he lost interest in that once it became clear that he was never going to be the ratings king, and then just seemed to lose interest altogether in the last few years.

colbert can be plenty smart without being political but i do worry he will value niceness over biting caustic humor. the character allowed him to be far more cutting than he may be apt to be as himself. but yeah, he was great at boiling down the bullshit that pervades our political culture and it will be a shame if that is completely lost.
