im no authority on pulpiness but it seems a step away from the wb-style supernatural high school self conscious drama. they have some "graphic novel" tie-in to the plot as well. my imagined connection to lost had to do with character development and multiple subplots ultimately tied together through some slowly revealed ultimate truth which will never be entirely known. i dont know. could quickly devolve if the characters are uninteresting.
