I was responding mostly to the Indian professor talking at the top of his lungs about "the next step in human evolution," which seemed pretty Stan Lee. Nevertheless, I'm a sucker for stories about ordinary people with special powers.

Lost, for all its X-files "mysterious phenomena" trappings, is mostly about real people, who don't realize how twisted their lives are in the Modern world until they lose everything in the crash. The pre-crash flashbacks are really important to the story.

The X-files craziness keeps everyone in a state of constant crisis and suspense, but it's McGuffinville on that island. In every good way.
