yeah that one bugged me the other day too but i suppose its possible some wear out quicker than others. i dont know how many games are played before they switch to new balls. but
Around 40,000 tennis balls are used during the Australian open.
Balls are changed over every nine games. The first change happens after seven games because they are also used in the pre-match warm-up. After a extended break in play, usually caused by rain, a re-warm-up is done with a separate set of balls and then when play resumes with the use of the match balls.
