Over the weekend we met a little puppy on Long Island. MB and I (and everyone else) really liked her. She is incredibly sweet. Now it turns out she needs a home. I know I probably shouldn't but we're both tempted. Feel free to talk some sense into me...

Here's a picture of the puppy sleeping with Theo.

im all for you getting a dog but if youre looking for dissuasion consider one word....pooper-scooper.
- dave 3-19-2002 8:31 pm

some sort of pit bull?
- dave 3-19-2002 8:32 pm

Defintely pit bull. I think it might be 100%, they insist it's not, but aren't sure what it's crossed with. Their top contenders are boxer (seems unlikely to me) and basenji (that would be weird, but it does in fact look a little like a basenji.)
- jim 3-19-2002 8:54 pm

if you don't take her we will (right, mike?). our kitty (that is really too sweet of a word for the little pest) needs someone to play with.
- linda 3-19-2002 8:57 pm

Cute now, but when she grows up she will look like this.

Barking up the wrong tree.

Are you sure there isn't Great Dane in there, not that it matters. My oldest dog Wheezer is an Echo
Park Cholita Dumpster Pit & the finest most loyal love bomb of all time. She's the squad leader.
Sister is Cheyenne & Pedro is GM Chessy Gordon from Idaho. Ah, my loving currs, I always say I'll never get another & I always do. Get the dog & if she gives you trouble ship her out to Rancho
Franko well beyond the kraal of Animal Control .
- frank 3-20-2002 5:56 am

I love Wheezer.

When I first moved to 3rd and B I had a friend who had two amazing female pit bulls. He left them with me for one night once and they slept in my bed, one stretched out along each side of me. Perhaps the only night I felt completely secure in that apartment. I like the speed of that dog. Pretty much my speed.

If you have Franks' ranch or Mike and Linda as the back-up there is no reason not to give it a try.
- sarah 3-20-2002 5:28 pm

Just don't say you weren't warned.
- alex 3-20-2002 5:55 pm

My post of the Presa Canario was a sly allusion to the dog trial. The Story that Transfixed California.

A friend of ours had a pit bull that recently died, and it seems he is interested in this one. I'm sort of disappointed, but in that sneaky backwards sort of way that keeps me in the blissful state of wanting a dog, but not yet having one. Being about to get a dog (even perpetually) might be the best of both worlds.

Sarah Sarah Sarah...what a treat to have you in these parts. Of course you are going to chime in when the theme is warm & cuddly but how about joining the palaver of ritual virility a tad more often.
- frank 3-20-2002 9:41 pm

Frank Frank Frank... it is so good to hear your distant voice. It has been far too long. When are you coming to the big apple? There are some plans in the works for a trip to Montana this summer. So far Ruth Nicholas, Jim, MB, me and maybe even more are thinking about coming out. Of course if the plan takes place, an important part of the plan would be to spend some time with you. No reservations have been made yet, but once the plan developes a bit more lets figure out where to meet.
Do you have Dianas e-mail address and Jeffs?

Is this too personal to be on the tree? I'm just a greenhorn.
- sarah 3-21-2002 3:55 am

uh.....yeah......maybe a little too personal......maybe you ought to stick around and see how it's done before going half cocked with your mouse.....Anyone want to post the FAQ for the newbie?
- steve 3-21-2002 8:19 am

NOT!!!!

- Skinny 3-21-2002 4:50 pm

Hey will you guys quit picking on the girls? We want them around.
- jim 3-21-2002 5:41 pm

As far as I'm concerned, the more gossip the better. Beats politics, anyway. Basically, the Golden Rule applies. Don't get into anything you wouldn't talk about in a (relatively intimate) group, and don't embarrass anyone but yourself. Of course, some of us have different thresholds, so remember that when I embarrass you it's just teasing; if you embarrass me, it's an outrage! Core is a private page, which is only seen by members. That's the best place for making plans and exchanging numbers and any other "sensitive information". Even that page is not 100% secure, so don't post your credit card and social security numbers. Most of us are not afraid to post an email address (some have permanent links on our pages). You can always post yours and invite a response (the post can be deleted once you've got the info). People tend to be more cautious about phone numbers. If you want to put a webcam in your shower that would be ok, Jim can give you a special page…

Bubsy: copeland@hotmail.com

Perspicuous....?
- frank 3-21-2002 11:00 pm

I don't think that's his email. Or that's not the one he uses with me at least. I emailed Sarah.
- jim 3-21-2002 11:13 pm

New as of today, it's official from the bubs hisself.
